Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring, hydrating substance found in your skin. As you age, you start to lose HA, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume.

Depending on your individual treatment plan, the appointment can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Dr Rippon will start by reviewing your treatment plan and giving you the ins and outs of what to expect that day. He will go over the number of injection points to show you how they will achieve the results you are after. 

When you are ready, Dr Rippon will first sanitise your treatment areas to prepare them for the injections. If using Juvederm® products with lidocaine, there will be minimal pain and swelling of the treatment areas.  Juvederm®products with lidocaine have a built in anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable and relatively pain-free.

Each injection is short, lasting a few seconds, and the amount of filler used will be dependent on your main treatment objective. The treatment technique will also vary depending on what you are looking to achieve. For example, Dr Rippon may be injecting an area of your face that isn’t necessarily your area of concern, because the effect it will create will give you the results you want.

After each injection, Dr Rippon will massage the area to ensure that the filler is placed properly and smoothed into your skin. You will be able to see your results immediately after the procedure. There may be some minimal swelling and redness at the injection points, which is normal and will subside soon after you leave the clinic.

Dr Rippon will want to schedule a follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks, just to check in and make sure you are happy with the results. It’s a great opportunity to make sure you are completely satisfied with your treatment, or if you want a small touch-up to get the results you are after. Any further filler added at this review will be classed as part of your treatment and will be charged at the prices shown on our price list page.
